Large Red Art Glass Orb by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta, 1960s
Large Red Art Glass Orb by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta, 1960s
Vintage Swedish Hand Blown Studio Glass
Is it a dump, is it an orb, is it an oversized paperweight? Whatever it’s called I think it is designed as a decorative object in its own right rather than for any particular purpose, although you would be able to weigh down a hell of a lot of paper under it.
Made by Swedish design heavyweight Vicke Lindstrand towards the end of his career. Likely a one-off piece. Inscribed ‘Kosta, V. Lindstrand /NK 100/73’. ‘NK’ denotes the high-end Stockholm department store Nordiska Kompaniet for which Lindstrand exhibited a major exhibition of his works in 1969, an exhibition for which we believe this piece was made.
Playful red swirls cased in clear glass with bubble inclusions reminiscent of a childhood marble, just more the size of a bowling ball.
It is in very good vintage condition with only minor wear and tear, surface scuffs etc. but no cracks or chips.
Measuring 16cm high x 16cm diameter.
Delivery is £30 to Mainland UK. If you live elsewhere please get in touch for an accurate quote. The shipping will automatically be added at check out unless you select collection.
