Large Antique French Louis XV Fruitwood Buffet Cabinet With Marquetry Decoration, 18th Century
Antique French Cupboard
A highly decorative and romantic buffet cabinet on a large scale with two drawers above a large cupboard space with two doors and an internal shelf.
A provincial piece made largely from fruitwood with inlaid marquetry decoration depicting stars and a branch with leaves
Carved panelled doors, a shaped apron and carved feet with two working keys for the cupboard section.
A barn find from the historic commune of Lectoure in the Occitanie region of Southwestern France.
Probably dating from the 18th century period during the reign of Louis XV.
The cabinet is structurally sound, the joints feel solid, and the piece feels sturdy. There is cosmetic wear, including fading and imperfections throughout the piece, which we think adds to its overall aesthetic and is part of the reason we fell for it in the first place. There is a significant amount of old, dead woodworm, which has been treated for good measure. There are also a few old, honest repairs to the piece.
Approximate measurements: 158cm wide x 67cm deep x 108cm high.
