Antique Painted Campaign Cupboard by Brown Bros. Piccadilly, Mid 19th Century

Antique Painted Campaign Cupboard by Brown Bros. Piccadilly, Mid 19th Century
Antique Victorian Traveling Cabinet
A handsome and decorative cupboard with the most wonderful naturally worn dark dusky red paint finish with a natural patina built up from years of use. The edges of the cabinet are protected by the original tin edging strips and there are large wrought iron carry handles on either side. The two panelled doors, attached by recessed campaign hinges open up to reveal two internal shelves.
Made by Brown Brothers, 165 Piccadilly, London. Fully stamped inside the right door.
Brown brothers made campaign furniture at their Piccadilly address between 1851 and 1872.
The cupboard is in good vintage condition with wear throughout commensurate with age. It feels solid and sturdy and the door and handles work as they should. There is wear to the finish of the red paint throughout but we think this adds to its overall aesthetic. There is a repair to on of the back corners and some minor losses on the metal edging strips, neither of which detract from the overall look. The interior is pretty clean with some discolouration in places. There is a small amount of old dead woodworm which we have treated for good measure.
Approximate measurements: 93.5cm high x 87cm wide x 41cm deep.
