Pair of Antique Regency Ebonised Faux Bamboo Chairs, Early 19th Century
Pair of Antique Painted Side Chairs
Made from pine with simulated bamboo decoration throughout.
At some point in their life, probably during the 20th century, they have been painted with a thick glossy black finish; they potentially could be stripped or dry scraped to reveal their original paint underneath, but we feel they are hugely decorative as they stand.
Deconstructed horse hair stuffed upholstered seats with hessian lining and webbing. Again, we love the chairs as they are, but they, of course, could be recovered depending on taste.
Originally dating from the English Regency period, circa 1820s-1840s.
The joints on the chairs feel secure, and they do not feel loose. There is cosmetic wear throughout consistent with age. The paint finish is naturally worn from use, and the deconstructed seats have wear to them, as you would expect.
Approximate measurements each: 44cm wide x 47cm deep x 83cm high. The seat height is roughly 48cm.
