Antique Georgian Mahogany Wavy Ladderback Elbow Chair, 18th Century

Antique Georgian Mahogany Wavy Ladderback Elbow Chair, 18th Century
Antique George III Mahogany Armchair
A stylish and handsome chair of fairly generous proportions with well-made, peg-joined construction raised on square supports united by a box stretcher.
High quality carved flourishes throughout with details including, cloverleaf finials, reeded uprights and well figured shaped arms with carved scroll details.
Probably dating from the mid to late 18th century period. Circa 1760-1800, during the reign of George III.
Drop in seat pad with the recently covered original horse hair stuffed cushion. Upholstered in simple, stylish yet complimentary pale green striped cotton ticking.
It is in very good vintage condition, the chair feels solid and sturdy and the joints feel secure, there is wear throughout commensurate with age, including some wear around the feet, one of the back legs has an old chip but this doesn’t affect the structural integrity. There is natural patina to the surface of the mahogany in places but this is a naturally built up patina rather than damage. There is a small amount of old, dead woodworm present, which we have treated for good measure.
Approximate measurements: 101cm high x 66cm wide x 57cm deep. The seat height is approximately 49cm and the cushion measures approximately 55cm wide x 43cm deep.
