Antique Folk Art Notch Carved Frame
A hand-crafted, notch carved tramp art picture frame of unusually large and deep form. The aperture is in the form of a crucifix with a gilt edge.
The frame is made from hundreds of pieces of old shipping crates each individually carved and assembled together.
It could be used for a picture but it also a very sculptural piece that is also hugely decorative in its own right.
Probably dating from the late 19th or possibly early 20th century. Circa 1880-1910 in date.
The frame is in good vintage order there is some minor wear commensurate with age including some minor losses but no serious issues.
Approximate measurements: 85cm high x 64cm wide x 10cm deep. The aperture measures approximately 31cm x 19 cm.
