Antique Chinese Porcelain Famille Rose Teapot with Repaired Silver Spout, 18th Century
Antique Chinese Export Porcelain Teapot
An extremely pretty little teapot which has been lovingly used and repaired by its owners, with the most charming replacement silver spout.
Made in China from porcelain and would have been a typical Chinese export piece destined for Europe and decorated with ‘Puce Camaïeu’ floral sprays to satisfy the fashionable western tastes on the time.
Dating from the Qing Dynasty and more specifically during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor who was the sixth emperor of the Qing dynasty, whose reign from 1735 to 1796 marked the height of power, territorial expansion, and cultural output in imperial China. The teapot probably dates from the mid 18th century period.
Overall the teapot displays well. It has been well used and loved over the years with wear consistent with this. The wear and repairs are part of the reason we fell for it in the first place. The spout has been replaced by a silversmith and the handle has been broken and re-glued at some point in its life, possibly, both at the same time.
Approximate measurements: 25cm wide x 13cm deep x 16cm high.
