Antique Glazed Pottery Jar/Vase
An extremely decorative double handled jar with unusual impressed thumb print decoration around the neck.
Internally glazed it would have originally been used to hold olive oil or possibly vinegar which would have decanted from a spigot/tap from the hole on the bottom of one side.
Made from terracotta with the most wonderfully dark treacle glaze that has naturally worn over time from use to great decorative effect.
Probably originating from the South of France or possibly Spain and probably dating from 19th century period.
It is in good vintage condition with wear throughout commensurate with age. There is cosmetic wear throughout including wear to the glaze which we think adds to its charm and aesthetic and tells its story. There are some chips as you would expect but no serious structural issues or repairs
