Antique Victorian Marbleised Ceramic Sink by Twyfords, 19th Century
Antique Sink/Basin
A stoneware pottery sink with decorated glaze that emulates Carrara marble.
Really unusual modelled guardian lion (foo dog) head covering the overflow in the chinoiserie taste.
Scalloped recessed soap dishes on either side with sunburst design.
The original brass waste is present but lacking plug.
Made by Twyfords at their Hanley factory in Stoke on Trent. Fully stamped underneath.
Dating from the late 19th Century period. Also stamped with a registered design number dating from 1887.
Would work excellently sunk into a counter top, or indeed a piece of furniture with taps either in the counter itself or wall mounted. It would also work well in a bathroom with cast iron wall brackets.
It is in extremely good vintage condition for its age with no serious structural issues and only minor wear commensurate with age including minor scuffs and scratches, small areas of discolouration and very minor chips to the glaze.
