Large Antique Gilt Gesso Mirror with Original Mercury Glass
Bought recently in Avallon in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of central France.
Beautiful naturalistic gilt gesso floral embellishments.
Originally would have been an overmantel but works equally as well as a full-length dressing mirror.
The frame is in great vintage condition with some wear and tear here and there that can be seen in photographs but nothing too serious. There is a small amount of foxing to the original mirror plate. most notably in a rectangular shape towards the left-hand side in the middle. Towards the bottom, the mercury glass has started to degrade giving a wonderful sparkling effect.
Measuring: 173cm high x 116cm wide x 11cm deep.
