Large Antique Dusky Peachy Pink Painted Sailor's Sea Chest, 19th Century

Antique Painted Seaman’s Trunk/Coffee Table

A decorative and useful chest of large proportions, constructed of pine.

Originally would have been used by a sailor at sea to store personal items, tools and valuables during a voyage.

Old, naturally worn paint in an attractive shade of dusky peachy pink.

With it’s flat top it would also work well as a coffee table whilst retaining the usefulness of the internal storage.

This example probably dates from the early to mid-19th century.

The trunk is in good vintage order and is still very usable, there is wear throughout, which adds to its charm and tells its story. It retains one of its original rope handles, the other has worn through, and is lacking. There is some old woodworm present, which has been treated for good measure.

Approximate measurements: 102cm wide x 64cm deep x 54cm high.

Delivery is £85 to the majority of the mainland UK. For those in remote areas of the UK or for international enquiries, please ask for a tailored quote.

The shipping will automatically be added at checkout unless you select collection.
