Antique Italian Baroque Carved Gilt Framed Mirror, 18th Century

Antique Italian Baroque Carved Gilt Framed Mirror, 18th Century
Antique Gilt Picture Frame/Mirror
A highly decorative gilt frame with a wide stepped wooden moulding of decorative scroll and leaf patterns paired with an inner beaded border.
The ornate heavily moulded classical baroque frame is carved in the Florentine taste. Its probably Italian in origin and probably dates from the 18th century but does resemble some other earlier examples of Italian Baroque frames dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
The frame is currently paired with a slightly distressed but later mirror plate, which probably dates from the 20th century. This works well as it is but the frame could also be used for a painting.
Overall it is in good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age including some old repairs, craquelure and wear to the gilding, providing a slightly distressed finish that highlights the carved details, adds to its decorative appeal and historic charm. There is some old dead woodworm present which can be seen on the back, this has been treated for good measure.
Approximate measurements: 43cm high x 38cm wide x 7cm deep. The rebate is approximately 26.5cm × 20.5cm.
