Antique English Green Painted Arched Overmantel Mirror, 19th Century

Antique English Green Painted Arched Overmantel Mirror, 19th Century
Antique Victorian Wall Mirror
Of arched form with simple moulded details and has been painted with an attractive pale viridian green, which has naturally worn to great decorative effect. There is a craquelure to the surface and wear in places, revealing the original gilt finish as well as the original pale pink undercoat underneath. The natural wear and distressing over time indicate that the green paint has quite a bit of age to it, rather than being recently painted. If I had to guess, it was probably painted in the early 20th century.
Original sparkly mercury mirror plate with some foxing.
The mirror probably dates from the mid to late 19th century period.
The frame is somewhat distressed, which we think adds a romantic charm to the piece, so we have left it in as-found condition. This overall look is the reason we fell for the piece in the first place. The original mirror plate is foxed in places; again, we think this adds to its charm.
Approximate measurements: 113cm wide x 66cm high (excluding brackets) x 6cm deep.
