19th Century Miniature Screen with Painted Floral Decoration
A very unusual piece picked up in Northern France.
Possibly would have originally been a fireguard or face screen to protect the face and makeup from the heat of the fire.
In the form of a larger three-fold room divider screen.
Handpainted floral decoration on pale green textured glass panels with a carved walnut frame.
Condition wise there is a crack to one of the glass panels but both pieces are still present, some of the original paint is worn. The frame is very dry and we like the look of it as it is but this can be oiled, polished or waxed if desired. Please see photographs.
Completely straight it measures 93cm wide but if you have it standing it would be around 75cm, butcan be adjusted to suit you. It is 70cm high is about 2cm deep when flat but if you stand it up it might be about 20cm.
