Vintage Trinket Box
Really finely painted in the traditional folk art style of Mstera in Russia.
Depicting Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov’s famous poem ‘The Humpbacked Horse’ which was based on a traditional fairy tale. Banned under the Tsars and subsequently became popular in the Soviet era where this box dates from.
There are inscriptions underneath the main image in Russian.
It is in great vintage condition with only a couple of little nibbles around the edges and scuffs/scratches from use.
