American Mid-Century Table Base

Lion in Frost was one of six original high-end American furniture makers working in Lucite. They were based in Miami in the 1970s and 80s and are well-renowned for their monumental designs.

This is a hand-signed piece rather than a stamped example, which denotes that it was an early piece of theirs dating from the 1970s.

Two chunky Lucite sections interlock to form a cross shape, which the glass top would sit on top of.

The two interlocking sections can be configured in two ways, both photographed.

We have seen this design with either a triangular, rectangular or oval glass top. The base is available to purchase without the glass top for ease of shipping; it will then require a new piece of glass cut to the specifications of the purchaser.

The table base is in good vintage condition. There is wear commensurate with age throughout, including scuffs and surface scratches, etc, and there is a slight ding to one corner (photographed), but as a whole it is in good vintage order.

Approximate measurements: 97cm wide x 64cm deep x 37cm high. The longest section measures roughly 97cm long x 8cm thick x 37cm high. The shorter section measures roughly 66cm long x 8cm thick x 37cm high.
