Antique Shop Fitting Chest of Drawers, Early 20th Century

designed by Edwin T. Hall and Edwin S. Hall For Liberty & Co. London

An extremely well-made piece as you would expect, hand-crafted with amazing attention to detail.

Originally made in their own Highgate workshop as a shopfitting for the 1920s flagship Tudor revival department store. All it’s furniture demonstrated the same high levels of craftsmanship and attention to detail as the building itself.

Constructed from the timbers of two 19th century men-of-war battleships: HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan.

Moulded angles and pegged construction, consisting of two short over two long drawers, each with wrought iron drop handles, the sides and back with fielded panelling, the whole raised on block feet.

It is in excellent vintage condition, it is solid, sturdy and all drawers run smoothly. There is an extremely warm bright feeling to the oak and it has built up a wonderful patina over the years.

Measuring 107cm wide x 46cm deep x 84cm high.
