Pair of Vintage Danish Lilac Leather Armchairs by Lars Kalmar for Mogens Hansen, Mid-Late 20th Century
Pair of Vintage Leather Chairs
Made by high-quality Danish manufacturer Mogens Hansen, the MH80 chair was designed by Danish architect and designer Lars Kalmar. The design was based on the desire to create an elegant universal chair with high level of comfort. The chair is popular for its beautiful organic form.
The MH 80 has been given the nickname "The Queen's Chair", as it has been used extensively by the Danish Royal Family in their official residences as well as in the Royal Yacht, Dannebrog.
Upholstered in a soft lilac/greyish purple leather with a generous and comfortable seat and cushions, raised on simple square stained solid wooden legs.
Dating from the mid to late 20th century, circa 1970s-1980s in date.
They are in very good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age. The frames are solid and sturdy. The leather is free from any significant damage but is worn throughout with scuffs, scratches and natural fading of colour etc. This is part of the reason we fell for them, and we think they are hugely decorative as they are, but they could quite easily be rejuvenated with a leather conditioning product to bring them back to their original finish.
Approximate measurements of each chair: 73cm wide x 73cm deep x 83cm high. The seat height is roughly 47cm.
