Vintage Original Oil Painting

Depicting a bride being raised up, on one hand very angelic but there is a definite sadness in her eyes and a gaunt quality to her face. Underneath her, there are various people, all very characterful in their own right but again all have a sense of sadness in some way. I can’t help thinking this is probably something to do with the proximity of WWII.

Painted in quite a naive almost comic book style but the artist has managed to capture the character and the emotion of the people masterfully.

Signed and dated to the lower left.

On the whole, the painting is in good vintage condition, there is some wear as can be seen from the photos but nothing too serious.

Measuring: 77cm x 63cm.
