Antique French Table

A highly decorative and useful metal table.

The cast-iron base is organic in form, slightly reminiscent of the architecture of the Paris Métro.

The galvanised zinc top is rectangular with a useful zinc drawer underneath, retaining the original brass pull handles. The drawer opens both ways.

It has possibly been converted/adapted at some point in its life quite some time ago, probably by its last owner, picked up from a French atelier in the South of France.

There are layers of old paint in differing shades of green, which have naturally worn away from use over time to great effect.

Quite a versatile piece that could be used in any number of ways, as a side table, console table or desk in a residential setting, or possibly in a workshop. Being made from zinc and iron, it could possibly also be used as a garden table outside or would be fabulous in a greenhouse, orangery or potting shed.

The table is solid and sturdy, and the drawer runs smoothly both ways. There is wear throughout which adds to its charm and tells its story.
