Vintage Illuminated Advertising Sign

The glass front panel is decorated on the reverse wth a large green apple on black ground with the words ‘Adam’s Apple’ in decorative red typeface.

The glass front panel is surrounded by a simple chrome frame and the sides of the light box are decorated with oh-so-70s faux woodgrain.

Probably originating from an amusement arcade to advertise an arcade game or slot machine and probably dating from the 1970s.

The glass panel is signed to the lower right with the makers name ‘IA Ltd. Slough.’ There are also stickers on each side which state: ‘Supplied and serviced by Hargreaves (Sports) Ltd. 47 Osborne Road, Southsea.’ Probably denoting that it spent most of its life on the South Coast of England.

The last owner has coveted the sign to run on an LED light fitting and used it as a decorative accent lamp in their home.

Overall the lamp is in great vintage condition, the glass appears to be free from damage and the colours are still vibrant. The case has some wear around the edges commensurate with age and use including some oxidization on the top edge of the chrome. We have had an electrician safety check the wiring and he has approved it for use.

Approximate measurements: 40cm wide x 31cm high x 14cm deep.
