Antique Victorian Quilted Glass Bead and Silk Embroidered Tea Cosy, 19th Century

Antique Victorian Quilted Glass Bead and Silk Embroidered Tea Cosy, 19th Century
Antique Silk Embroidery and Beaded Tea Cosy (Tea Cozy)
A fine and extremely pretty example of Victorian folk art needlework, quilted for insulation to keep a teapot warm and decorated with silk thread embroidery and with tiny glass beads to depict floral and foliate sprays.
A decorative colour palette of cornflower and kingfisher blue silk thread with clear and white glass beadwork.
Fully lined with mustard yellow silk fabric.
With slits on either side for the spout and handle, this would fit a fairly large sized teapot.
Probably dating from the late 19th century during the reign of Queen Victoria, circa 1880.
The cosy is in great vintage condition. As is typical of silk embroidery there is some wear from age and some minor losses but most of the threads are still present and it presents well. The glass beadwork seems pretty intact and the yellow lining is in good vintage condition with some minor wear commensurate with age.
Approximate measurements when laid flat: 30cm wide x 24cm high x 3cm deep.
