Kurdish Kilim Baby Carrier, c.1930s
Vintage Hand-Woven Wool Papoose with Tassels
Traditional tribal baby carrier which leaves the hands free to do other daily tasks.
These were also used for carrying other loads such as firewood.
Flatwoven woollen kilim with natural dyes in red, blue and cream with long wool tasselled decoration on the front.
Straps either side to secure to the body.
This could still be used to carry items (although we wouldn’t want to vouch for it carrying a baby) so we are selling it as a decorative item.
It is in great vintage condition, there isn’t really any significant damage as it was very well made, there is some minor wear and tear here and there but nothing too serious.
As it was displayed on the wall in the photographs the measurements were 92cm wide x 75cm high.
