Original Vintage Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting

By celebrated South African artist Alexander Rose Innes 1915-1996.

Painted extremely well, capturing plenty of feeling. John Blackie seems like a stoic kind of fella with lots of hidden depths in his brown three-piece suit and red tie.

Signed lower left and inscribed verso with the title ‘John Blackie’.

I would say this is probably painted in the 1950s period.

It is in good vintage condition, there is some minor wear and tear.

Measuring: 61cm high x 51cm wide.
