Hand Coloured Aquatint Etchings Depicting Hereford Cows

‘The Hereford Ox - The property of Mr William Heath of Ludham Hall near Norwich for which the first prize of £30 and a silver medal were awarded at The Smithfield Club Cattle Show Dec 1851’.

and

‘The Hereford Steer - The property of Edward Longmore Esq. of Adforton near Ludlow for which the first prize of £30 was awarded in class 2 The Smithfield Club Cattle Show Dec 1851’.

Both are engraved by Edward Hacker after original works by William Henry Davis and Published by Rogerson & Turford, 246 Strand, London.

The engravings are dated to 1852.

They are both framed in later matching maple gilt frames.

The engravings themselves are in good vintage order with only very minimal wear commensurate with age. The frames have a little wear around the edges but are also in good order.

Each one’s overall measurements are 30cm x 23cm x 4cm.
