A charming scene depicting an artist cross'-legged and proud sat at his easel looking intently at the viewer as if you are the sitter of a portrait. He is surrounded buart materials and a dark Victorian interior scene.

The painting itself is in good vintage condition. at some point, I would say some time in the early to mid 20th century it has been relined and the original canvas has been laid over a fresh canvas to preserve it.
