Depicting a gentleman of the period with mutton chops, a characterful face and piercing blue eyes.

Painted in an expressive yet somewhat naive style.

Coming from a Cornish estate, by repute, the sitter was a Cornish tin miner.

Dating from the 19th Century.

In the original gilt gesso frame.

The painting is generally in good vintage order there are a few small areas of wear but nothing too serious and no holes or tears to the canvas. The frame largely survives well but there are some minor losses.
