Original Swedish Oil on Panel Painting by Siri Rathsman (1895-1974)

Depicting a wonderfully rich scene with a central wooden table with tea, grapes and flowers. The surrounding room is filled with heavy and luxurious textiles and utilitarian objects.

Rathsman was a journalist and painter whose work gradually became more abstract, bold and geometric throughout her life but this was very much her style at this period but all of her styles of work are appreciated.

Looking at ‘Ateljéinteriör’ (another of her works painted in the same year that sold in 2003) I did wonder whether this was the same table but we are looking at it from the opposite angle. In which case, there is a strong chance that this might be her home at the time.

Signed ‘S. Rathsman’ and dated ‘1925’ in the lower left.

The painting is in good vintage condition with only very minor wear and tear here and there.
