Antique English Original Oil Painting Depicting a Horse

A dramatic scene depicting a charming black horse set against a dramatic backdrop, dark clouds are forming and a storm is a brewing in an typically English rambling county landscape.

Painted in a fairly folky, primitive style.

I would date this to the mid-19th century, William IV to the Early Victorian period, circa 1840.

Framed in its original, fairly deep-set maple and parcel gilt cushion frame.

The painting itself is largely in good vintage order with wear commensurate with age. There are a couple of areas of wear which have had some touch up/restoration. One on the hind quarters of the horse and potentially another small area in the sky in front of the nose.

Approximate frame measurements: 75cm x 60cm x 4cm. The board itself measures approximately 61cm x 46cm.
